Does generic-cd mean IDE CDROM only?
Boot from CDROM using 1.7.29.2 and 1.8.0 images didn't work.

How about initrd hdext3.gz? Is only for IDE disks?

Unfortunally yes.

Unfortunally yes.

I am working on the v1.9 series which is supposed to have support for
SATA. I dont have the wardware easy available for testing so I dont know
if it works.

If I make an alpine-1.9.0_alpha1 release, would you be able to test if
it works?

Thanks!
