Hi,

We're using alpine 3.16 and we're requested to use Temurin jdk & jre on Alpine as openjdk replacement.

Currently we're installing Temurin from adoptium github tar but it will be better if an alpine package became available.
Is there a way to integrate temurin jdk and jre packages (currently 17.0.5 and next)

Thanks
François

Hi François,

there are no plans to integrate the temurin builds in alpine, at least
not from my side. Alpine builds the packages (aports) itself and does
not ship pre-build binaries.

As far as i can see, you're looking for a "certified" java distribution
as provided by temurin. The whole advantage of temurin is, that they
build and extensively test the build prior distribution, resulting in a
very stable and good distribution.

Temurin itself is based on the openjdk (as the alpine builds) and wraps
the build process with some scripts and the aqua testsuite. I don't see
an advantage in using these buildscripts, as the openjdk provided
Makefile works just fine for us. As for the extended testsuites I would
appreciate to use them, but haven't found a way to make them work yet.

So installing from the adoptium github releases is the preferred way to
get an stable and JCK certified java build for alpine.

Thanks,
Simon
