I'm currently using a modified local build of the dovecot package with
PAM enabled for the passdb driver, because PAM support is not built in
in the official alpine repos.

Are there are any intentions to make a separate
dovecot package with pam support (as it can't be compiled as a plugin)
or including it in the dovecot base package, which I understand not
happening as of now as PAM isn't included by default on alpine.

After some more research I'm guessing using shadow as the passdb is
just easier and doesn't require me to install/configure PAM so I'll
stick to that.
