Hi Harry,
Do you mean your BIOS does not detect the CDROM, or the
kernel doesn't recognize the chipset?
Intel's 965 is a older and basic chipset which should be supported just
fine.

Br,

Carlo

Hi Harry.
Could you try boot Alpine from USB-mem (or other media) and when it
booted, try 'mount /media/cdrom' and browse your CD to figure out if
you can read it.
I get the feeling the burn-process was unsuccessful while creating
your Alpine CD.
(Did you check sha1sum your downloaded Alpine.iso?)

Hi all,
thanks for the answers,
apparently the CD does not include the modules required to boot from

then I also had to mknod in /dev/ to create scd0

It seems That I must do a CD remastering to include some additional modules.

Any hints of what to include and what to watch-out for will be
appreciated ....

Kind regards,
Harry

I suppose I've located the missing module which is
sr_mod ( SCSI Support -> SCSI CD_ROM Support )

Any notes on remastering the cdrom ??
Will the init script create the nodes in /dev/ and link to /dev/cdrom ???

Regards
Harry.
