We are using dnsrbl and grossd for spam filtering, and until now it was
surprisingly effective.

This weekend we enabled clamsmtp on the lists server. Of course the
"Notice To Appear in Court" email was a zipped javascript file that passed.

We're currently working on upgrading the lists infrastructure (including
the web archives), and are looking at additional spam filtering options.

Thanks for your patience.

And yes, this email is a free offer to vent, flame, or offer useful
suggestions.

Any progress on that? Are we going to switch to mailman or this isn't
going to change?

Cheers,

So I guess you would want an alpine based solution but it's worth
considering putting a tiny OpenBSD spamd box in front of your server.

http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi/OpenBSD-current/man8/spamd.8?query=spamd
http://cvsweb.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/mail/greyscanner/pkg/DESCR?rev=1.1.1.1&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup

You can modify the greyscanner or make your own scripts to do all sorts
of checks whilst senders are temporarily delayed by the amount of time
that you tell spamd to do so for (time needed to make sure the checks
complete basically). I have a script for dnsbl checks such as barracudas
list. Valid senders get failure notices too.

I love it, the only down side is that mail can be delayed from large
providers like gmail or yahoo as happens on the OpenBSD list, though you
can use whitelist tables for google network ips.

Thanks for the feedback!

We are already using grossd for the greylisting/blacklisting

But nice to know - I didn't realize spamd lets us make our own scripts.

And yeah, we like to eat our own dog food. (Alpine is self hosted)

But looks like I'll be working on a new aport:
