Hello,
Here's MR to add to testing "the coming in November" new major release
of PHP 8.0
Next two weeks I will check related php7-* packages for compatibility
and wanna commit nexit when next beta will out.
The question is how to figure most used (installable) php additions?
Because of beta/rc stability I think 'testing' is best fit so looks
that I need to create clones of extensions from community for
transition to release period.
I there suggested way to make it right?
I bet that other packages can be run on top php8 post-3.13 or later,
so at least a year expected for transition.
Looking for reviews and opinions)

Hello, just wanted to announce that PHP 8.0 with a set of common
extensions has landed in community aports. The related issue (closed
now) is https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/12146
It means that applications depending on php7-* can start transition to
use php8-* if they are compatible yet. The only change is php7-json
has no php8-json package as it is built-in now.
Moreover applications may benefit a better performance via opcache
proloading and JIT which could cause tuning configuration for apps.

It will need to consider when support for PHP 7 should be removed.
According to support cycle would be great to finish transition in 1
year https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php
