Anyone got anywhere?

Sadly it won't complete booting on my sole remaining x86-32 machine,
which used to run 3.18 fine.

If you want help, you need to be more descriptive.

Can you tell us more about that machine (especially the CPU)? Also, what
did you do that caused it to stop working? Did you try to upgrade to
3.19? What was the last thing you did before it stopped booting? Also,
if you plug it into a screen, does the computer show some error?

Sorry about that. I only just saw this today.

The machine is a Sony Vaio P VGN-P11Z.

It has an Atom Z520 and the max 2GB of RAM.

It ran 3.18 successfully, with Xfce. However, under 3.18 only some
850MB of the machine's 2GB RAM was used. Hardware probing showed it
was all there but Alpine ignored 2/3 of it. I was unable to find a
workaround for this. Other 32-bit distros including the Raspberry Pi
Desktop see all the RAM.

I posted about this back in May under the title "Alpine 3.18 x86-32
not detecting all RAM".

Currently it dual boots Win XP and antiX.

Alpine 3.19 starts to boot, gets to the init, and hangs about 4 lines
into the init messages. I have not had time to troubleshoot this over
the Yule period and won't until next week at the earliest, but my
current plan is to reinstall 3.18 and try to upgrade it in place.

Hi,

startup of my 3.18 failed due to a module issue. I needed to add the fs
module to the kernel line, even after rebuilding initram. Maybe
something similar is happening on your machine, too.
